Good News, Funny News, and that other stuff

What Nicole failed to mention in her last post, is that although she thinks I am a good catch, I can't catch ANYTHING (except for my lucky catch of Nicole). That's right, we've been fishing 6 times this year, and I am 0 for 6. OUCH. So let's skip my bad stuff and go on to the fun stuff.
First, the funny. This past week Dave and I were in the water lab getting some things finished up before the day was over, and the janitor came it and asked for out help. He directed us to a room in the back of the lab and said, "Could you catch that lizard for me?" I was stunned (so was the lizard). We caught the thing and let him go outside, so hopefully he didn't get too many chemicals in his system and die a few minutes later, but who knows. This is what he looks like:

Then, this past week has been interview crazy. I had my second phone interview with CH2MHill in Baton Rouge, LA. This one was with an engineer at the firm and seemed to go really well. After about an hour and a half we finally concluded and it sounded like after discussing it with the hiring engineer they might fly me out to take a look.
Friday I had two interviews, a phone one with LA County Sanitation Districts (LACSD) and an in person one with Select Engineering Services (the company I worked for last summer). The one with LACSD was definitely the most rigorous that I have had so far (mostly because they actually asked technical questions) but things seemed to go well and they also mentioned that they would probably be arranging a flight out there to check things out. Since they are a public works agency, they will take a bit longer to get back to me, but we'll see how it goes.
The last one was good as well. We ate at Blackstone in Logan. That was the best part. They did seem to want to have me, but the work would not be exactly what I am looking for. They were a bit more flexible that I thought and are looking to hire 3-4 people by October, so it still is in the mix. We still don't have any offers yet, but we'll keep you posted.


Lo que Nicole no les dijo en su ultimo mensaje era que aunque ella piensa que soy un buen pesca, no puedo pescar nada (a menos que este hablando de me suerte con Nicole). Es cierto, hemos pescado 6 veces este año y no he pescado nada. Entonces, vamos a salir de este sujetó y seguir con las cosas de diversión.
Primeramente, lo diversión. Esta semana pasada, Dave y yo estuvimos en el laboratorio donde trabajamos haciendo algunas últimas tareas antes de irnos para el día y el conserje nos pregunto, “¿Podrían ustedes atrapar el lagarto?” Me dejo atónitos (lo mismo con el lagarto). Lo atrapábamos y le dejábamos afuera del edificio. Espero que las químicas en el laboratorio no le mato, pero quien sabe. La foto es de un lagarto similar.
También, este semana pasada ha sido loco para hacer entrevistas (habían 3). Tuve mi segundo entrevista de teléfono con CH2MHill en Baton Rouge, Louisiana (en el sur este de los Estados Unidos). Ese fue con un ingeniero de la empresa y me fue bien. Después de una hora y media concluíamos la conversación y parecía que después de hablar con el ingeniero de contrataciones me van a dar un vuelo para que pueda ir y ver su oficina y área.
Viernes tuve dos entrevistas, una de teléfono con LA County Sanitation Districts (LACSD) y una en persona con Select Engineering Services (la empresa con quien trabaje el verano pasado). La con LACSD era lo mas difícil que he tenido hasta el momento (porque me hicieron preguntas en cuanto a cosas técnicas acerca del ingeniería ambiental) pero parecía que también me fue bien y que están pensando en darme un vuelo para ir y ver sus oficinas. Siendo que son una empresa publica, probablemente tomará bastante tiempo para hablar conmigo de nuevo, pero allí veremos.
La ultima era buena también. Comimos en Blackstone en Logan. Eso fue lo mejor de todo. Parece que realmente quisieron que yo trabaje con ellos, pero el trabajo no seria exactamente lo que busco. Eran un poco mas flexible de lo que pensé y están tratando de contratar de 3 a 4 personas antes de Octubre así que todavía es una posibilidad. Todavía no tenemos ni una oferta pero les diremos cuando sabemos mejor.
